Preceded in death last year by his wife Gertrude and three other brothers, Herbert, Cleo, and Adrian. Survived by loving children, son Philip (Susan) Schaaphok of Hollister, son Edward (Jan) Schaaphok of Oakdale, and daughter Frances Dugan of San Jose; brothers Carl (Joan) Schaaphok of Birmingham, AL, Chester Schaaphok of Phoenix, AZ, and sister lleen (Frederick) Johnson of Ontario, CA; 8 grandchildren: Nicole (Ted) Banucci, Carrie Andros; James Philip, Melissa, Kelly, and Katelynd Schaaphok, Crystal & Shaun Schaaphok, and two great-grandchildren.Served in the US Navy from 1941-1946, receiving the Purple Heart for injury in combat. A hero to his family for his whole life. Loved gardening, golf, his church, and people, talking with everyone he met.Viewing Thurs. July 27th 2-9 p.m. Chapel of Flowers 900 S. 2nd St. San Jose. Fri. July 28th 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at Covenant Presbyterian Church 2530 Leigh Ave. cross - Curtner Ave. No viewing at church. Private Burial.
