Betty June Lawrence

Betty June LawrenceAug. 26, 1921 - Mar. 22, 2021Resident of SaratogaBetty June Lawrence will be missed by her entire family and community of friends. Betty was born Betty June Cassell in Edgar, Nebraska, August 26, 1921. She departed this life on March 22, 2021, well into her hundredth year, to join her beloved husband Bill, who had a head start. She leaves behind five children: Mike, Gary, Mary, Barbara and Joseph. Three other children, Mark, Stephanie and Susan, preceded her in death. She leaves 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren so far, and yes, she is counting!Betty met Bill in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a medical student and she worked in a dentist office, where they met. Both were engaged to other people at the time, and Bill's proposal began with taking "the other guy's" ring off of her finger. From the day of their marriage on October 9, 1943, they were a happy, playful couple.Betty collected antique clothes and paraphernalia to go along with Bill's love of antique automobiles. On any given weekend, you could find her, riding alongside Bill in one of his Brass-Era horseless carriages, sporting a duster from 1912 and keeping an eye on the equally vintage-dressed children in the back seat.Betty and Bill raised their children in a home filled with love, toys and noise. Grandma was clearly Betty's favorite role in life, after wife. She doted on all children and made sure her home was a place where the kitchen was always ready for a batch of brownies and spatulas were made for licking.Betty's life will be celebrated on Friday, April 16, 10:00 am, at Chapel of the Flowers, 900 S. Second St. San Jose. View the online memorial for Betty June Lawrence
