Edwin McCallJan 26,1937-Sept 2, 2017San JoseEd was born in San Francisco, CA to Edwin J. and Bernice Gorman McCall. He attended St. Paul's grammar school, St. Joseph's College, and St. Patrick's Seminary. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1962 and served for 15 years. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara, Ed leaves behind his beloved wife, Nayda, his son, Brendan (Dushinka), and granddaughter, Anastasia. He also leaves behind: his brother Walter, sister Bernadette, sister-in-law Erlinda; nieces Michele (Howard), Cheryl (Albert), Michelle (Derek), Edna; nephews Rich (Rachel), Jose Marvin (Alma); grand-nephews Ernie and Gabriel; and, grand-nieces Marsha, Talia, Katie and Gulianne. In the final chapter of his life, Ed could not have found a more loving, caring, dedicated wife than Nayda. She became his primary caregiver under very difficult circumstances and never complained; she would say only, "I love him very much." A friend of Bill's for over 37 years, Ed was very active in sharing the precious gifts he had received in the Fellowship.After retiring from the probation department, he moved to the Villages and became involved in many activities including the 8:15 a.m. Community Choir, and the Villages' Amateur Theater. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi parish and sang in the choir. He was always available for anyone in need.A celebration of Ed's life will commence with a prayer service, Thursday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Chapel of Flowers, 900 So. 2nd St., San Jose. A funeral mass will be offered Friday, September 15 at noon, St. Francis of Assisi Church, 5111 San Felipe Rd., San Jose with a reception immediately following.
