Emma SawatzkyDec. 19, 1913 - Mar. 28, 2015Resident of San JoseEmma was born in Lithuania December 19, 1913 to German parents. She grew up surrounded by nature and working with animals on the farm. Emma married Ronald Sawatzky in 1936. They has six children, Anna Smailus, Irma Galovic, Walter E. Harding, Oskar H. Sawatzky, Horst H. Savickas and Angelika U. Simonson. This has blossomed into sixteen grand children and thirty-one great grand children. The turbulence of World War II created disrupting changes in their lives, forcing them to relocate several times before settling in Hamburg, Germany. In 1962 the family immigrated to USA and chose to live in San Jose. Emma and Ronald followed their good instincts and made a wise decision to establish their new life here, they joined the German club. Emma opened a successful delicatessen with her friend and helped to establish the Germania Restaurant at the German Club house. After such successful accomplishments Emma and her friend went on a world tour. Emma and Ronald bought their own two story home without any monetary assistance, later they bought two more investment properties. Emma's door was always open to people in need.She rented her rooms to students and enjoyed their company. Emma had a soft spot for people who had fallen on hard times whether she knew them or not, they were welcome to her table to share their meal. She remained a caring, devoted mother, with a warm loving disposition that embraced everyone as she completed her circle of life on March 28th, 2015. Everyone whose life she touched will sorely miss her. Services for Emma will be held Sun. April 12th, 11am at Chapel of Flowers.
