Esperanza Garcia Moreno

MORENO, Esperanza Garcia -- was born to Julio & Eloisa Fierro Garcia on December 25, 1915. She was preceded in death by husband Manuel Y. Moreno and daughters Eloise M. Martinez & Paulita Moreno. Surviving off spring include Julia M. Garcia, Edward Moreno, Manuel (Nick) Moreno, Eugene (Gino) Moreno, Cecilia M. Garcia, George Moreno & Jean Moreno Ruecker. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren & 6 great-great-grandchildren. Esperanza was born in El Paso, TX. Educated at F.E. Eddington School for girls in El Paso, TX and graduated in the class of '34 from Bowie High School in El Paso. She was a pioneer in Spanish Radio acting on La Hora Artistica Radio Novela under the auspices of Jesus Reyes Valenzuela. Ms. Moreno created 'Las Comadres' sponsored by La Pina Flour. Ms. Moreno and her late husband Manuel were Mexican Dance enthusiasts during the 50's and 60's. During WWII Ms. Moreno did her duty as an aide to the Nurses Dept. at a military base in El Paso, TX. Esperanza Moreno touched many lives and will be sorely missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, 900 S. 2nd Street., San Jose. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, San Jose.
