Ethel M. Ames

AMES, Ethel M. (Dolly) -- passed away quietly at her home on March 29, 2003. She was born in San Francisco on August 15, 1908. Her family moved to Honolulu where she spent her childhood swimming and diving for the Outrigger Canoe Club before returning to San Francisco. She attended Notre Dame at Belmont. Dolly worked for General Electric where she met her husband Ed Ames. They were married for 41 years until his passing in 1977. They raised their two children in Sacramento and moved to Hillsborough in 1960. They traveled the world with General Electric before retiring to the Villages in San Jose in 1974. She is survived by her daughter and her husband Carol and Larry Fordyce of Los Gatos, her son Philip Ames of Sacramento, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and her loving caregiver, Rosie. Gigi spent her life caring for her family and the Catholic Church with a lovely and dignified manner. She will be greatly missed as she played such a special role in all of our lives. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, 900 S. 2nd Street, San Jose. Donations to The Villages Medical Auxiliary, 5000 Cribari Lane, San Jose, CA 95135 would be appreciated.
