Frank Triena May 12, 1913 - Oct. 18, 2005 Passed away peacefully on October 18, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born in Pueblo, Colorado, Frank moved to California as a child, attended San Jose Public Schools and received his BA degree from San Jose State. Graduate work was done at Stanford and Temple University. A former member of the San Francisco Symphony, Mr. Triena played violin under such noted conductors as: Pierre Monteux, Bruno Walter, Leopold Stokowski, Sir Thomas Beacham and Igor Stravinsky. Frank played for many years with the San Jose Symphony, serving for 12 years as its Concertmaster under Gastone Usigli and Sandor Salgo. He also served as Concertmaster for the San Jose Light Opera Orchestra for over 40 years. He was Founder and Director of The San Jose String Quartet. Mr. Triena taught music in Modesto City Schools for 5 years and later was Music Director of Campbell High School and Del Mar High School for many years. He was a member of California Teachers Association, California Retired Teachers Association, SIRS and Family Club of San Francisco. Mr. Triena is survived by his companion of many years, Marian Reid; his sister, Ann Carnabuci and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Philip, Joe and Tommy Triena and sisters Lena Triena, Rose Barone and Mary Habgood. Funeral Mass on Friday, October 21, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, Campbell. Vigil on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Chapel of Flowers, 900 South 2nd St., San Jose. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or your favorite charity.
