Gion Augustine Whitcomb, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on May 6, 2024, in San Jose, California. Born on August 21, 1974, in Santa Clara, California, Gion lived a life filled with passion and purpose that touched the lives of many.
Gion's career path was diverse and impactful. He excelled as a Physical Security Operations Manager, Sales Engineering Manager, and Inside Sales Manager. His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him.
A proud veteran, Gion served in the US Navy aboard the USS John Young (DD 973) as a Petty Officer Third Class. His commitment to service was reflected in the numerous accolades he received during his four years of distinguished service, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Battle "E" Ribbon.
Outside of his professional life, Gion found joy in various hobbies and interests. From his involvement in Boy Scouts alongside his father Robert Sr., to his dedication to Autistic Giant Baseball to support special needs children, Gion's compassionate nature shone through in everything he did. He also cherished his role as a supportive "girl dad" in the Girl Scouts of America.
Gion's proudest accomplishments included his advocacy for autism awareness and support for parents facing similar challenges. His passion for learning technology, outdoor adventures like hiking with friends, playing little league baseball, and enjoying high school football games showcased his vibrant spirit and love for life.
Gion will be deeply missed by his surviving family members and friends: his brothers Robert Whitcomb and Jay Whitcomb; niece Alyssa Whitcomb-Zeidel; nieces Amanda Whitcomb and Shaina Whitcomb; nephew Jonthan Whitcomb; daughter Nayla Whitcomb; son Cyrus Whitcomb; along with Jay's wife Sharon Whitcomb.
