James Marlin Shinn

JAMES MARLIN SHINN A lifetime resident of San Mateo, passed away January 3, 2002 at Peninsula Hospital at the age of 62. He had recently retired after 38 years as a radio officer from the merchant marine. He graduated from San Mateo High School in 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents John V. Shinn and Rita Ann Shinn and brother Ronnie "Rainbow" Shinn. He is survived by his wife, Ba Shinn of San Mateo; sons Hung Le Shinn of Foster city; Tommy Shinn of San Mateo; daughters Nhung Smith of Newark; Mai Le Bond of Vallejo; Linda Kennedy of Hayward; grandchildren Vicky Smith, Christopher Jennings, Ananda and Alex Shinn, Jamie and William Bond and Allan Kennedy, Jr. He was also survived by his brother John L. Shinn of Ypsilanti, Michigan; sister Patty Cross of Santa Cruz; nieces Chelsey Brown of Santa Cruz; Sara Peterson of the State of Washington; and Dan Shinn of Ypsilanti, Michigan, plus sons and daughter-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins. Viewing and visitation by friends and family will be held at the Chapel of Flowers, 900 South 2nd Street, San Jose, California (phone: 408-294-9663) on Friday, January 4th from 2PM to 9PM and Saturday, January 5th from 2PM to 9PM. Funeral services will be held at the San Jose Vietnamese 7th Day Adventist Church, 1066 South 2nd Street, San Jose, at 10AM.
