UntitledLena HaneyDied March 24, 2007, in San Jose. Born in Santa Clara, May 24, 1921, to the late Filomena and Archemedia Antichi. Lee's father was one of the founding fathers of the original farmers market on Taylor St. in San Jose. She married the love of her life Floyd (Bud) Haney in 1943 and they settled in North San Jose where they lovingly raised their two daughters. There was a lot of laughter, song and the smells of good food in the Haney house. Many were the times when an extra plate or two was added to the dinner table for family or friends.Gardening and art in all forms were her passions. Her garden looked like a Monet painting and her flowers were the subject of many of her beautiful oil paintings. Lee was an accomplished Gardner and artist and taught oil painting and tole and decorative art for many years. She used to say she loved teaching children because their minds were open and they had not yet developed inhibitions. Her classes were always filled with laughter and her students adored her. Lee was a member of Las Gardenares Garden Club and Toling Belles, and was one of the first artists to display her work at the original harvest Festival. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bud, and a son, Thomas Michael, Lee is survived by her brother Monte Antichi, daughters Cathy Reno and Corinne (Steve) Lopez, her grandsons Chris, Michael, Danny, Granddaughters Ellen and Patricia and five great grandchildren. Her nieces Linda Brown, Patricia Burrows and Lorna Gaines, and many more loving nieces and nephews. Per Lena's wishes inurnment will be private.A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 14, 2007, at her home. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2065 W. El Camino Real, Suite C, Mt. View, CA, or Liver Association. Services were held under the direction of Chapel of Flowers, San Jose.
