Lorraine (Phyllis) Rivera "Piliki" January 8, 1937 May 1, 2009 Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. Resident of San Jose since 1969. Beloved daughter to the late George and Rosalina (Rodie) Mara. Predeceased by husband James H. Rivera and daughter Jamie Rivera. Proud and dedicated mother of: Brad Rivera, Dean Rivera and Kimberly Orta. Not to mention her spoiled Son in law Louie Orta. Worlds Greatest Grandmother without a doubt to: Jamie (Erik), Serena (Aaron), Louie Jr (Adriana) and Grandma's baby Katrina Orta. Great Grandmother to be to: Erik Chairez Jr, Step Great Grandmother to: Raylene and Lexie Chairez. Phyllis is going to be missed dearly but never forgotten. She will live in our hearts forever. Everyone that knew her has a story, she has touched many lives with her friendship, outgoing personality, humor, cooking, decorating and parties for all occasions: Halloween, Birthdays, Bingo, etc. Phyllis practically paid the rent at San Jose's local Bingo hall's; yes she was a Bingoholic. She was also a big supporter of the 12 step programs. Anyone who has overcome their battle with addiction, she would cheer on; of course that was another reason to have a party. She loved preparing food for BBQ's for her son in law Louie and his buddies from the NO CAL DUKES car club, which she was considered a member, only as the cook that is. One of Phyllis's famous sayings, was "if you want something done right, do it yourself", so that's how her service was planned: not to mourn her loss, but to celebrate her life. She made it clear to put a donation box for cards and donations and mentioned those she touched or who owed her money, feel free to drop it in the box. PAGA! (That's Phyllis) Services will be held on May 22 at 5:30pm at the Center for Spirtitual Living, 1195 Clark Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 Under the direction of Chapel of Flowers Funeral Home.
