VALINE, LORRAINE MARIEA Pocket Area family loses the matriarch of a Portuguese farming family. Born on October 22, 1919 and died peacefully on June 4, 2002 in her home in the Pocket Area. Preceded in death by husband Joseph L. Valine, parents Frank and Mary Rogers. Beloved mother of Rosemary Wood (Ron), Carol Zarek (David), Roger Valine (Marie), and Kevin Valine (Susan). Grandmother of John Wood (Sarah), David Wood (Karen), Bob Wood, Steven Wood (Aimee), Debbie Zarek (David Donohue), Beth Zarek, Gina Wandell (Nate), Anne Marie Valine, Joe Valine, Jennifer, Heather and Natalie Valine. Great-grandmother of Katie, Rachel, Derrick, Ben, Gabrielle, Emma Lorraine and Calvin. She is also survived by her sister Aileen Cabral, sisters-in-law Ethel Soto, Bernice Gwinn, Betty and Moody Alei, many nieces and nephews, and caregiver and beloved friend Rosa Dy. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Member of Cabrillo Civic Club, American Portuguese Club, Portuguese Historical Society, Mr. & Mrs. Club, St. Elizabeth's Social Club and a volunteer at the Sacramento Food Bank. Friends are invited to attend the Vigil Service at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2002 and also a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM on Saturday, both at St. Anthony's Church, 660 Florin Road. Entombment St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the GEORGE L. KLUMPP CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, Riverside Boulevard & 2nd Avenue. Remembrances may be made to the Joseph and Lorraine Valine Memorial Fund at Christian Brothers High School, Cabrillo Civic Club Scholarship Memorial Fund, Sacramento Food Bank or Sutter Hospice.
