Mable Lee Mosley

Mable Lee Mosley Friendship, dedication, strength commitment, love and family are all words describing a wonderful loving woman and mother. On April 8, 2008, Mable was called home to our Lord and Saviour. Mable Lee Mosley (MOM) was born in Giblon, Louisiana to Gus and Bessie Walker on October 22, 1924. A resident of Santa Clara County since 1953, she was a pillar in the community. Mable began her calling in 1970 working through the Santa Clara County Probation Department, making her home available for foster care. She was a foster parent literally to hundreds of young people ranging from ages 9 to 18 years and reflecting the broad diversity of the population of San Jose. She continued her work with foster care until the fall of 2007. Mable received awards which included "Woman of the Year: from the State of California Legislature, Certificate of Commendation for "Outstanding Woman of Silicon Valley" from the United States Senate, Certificate of Appreciation from the Santa Clara County Social Services Agency - African American Family To Family Coalition Committee, amoung other accomplishments. Mable is survived by her sister Mamie Marie Lathan; daughters Mamie Mosley-Gilbert; Linda Hobbs; sons, Augustus; Clinton; Joseph; Marc; and Vic; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mom was a vibrant woman who loved life; enjoyed being with family, helping others in need, cooking, talking on the phone and participating in church activities. A Quiet Hour will be help Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at Chapel of Flowers, 900 S. 2nd St, San Jose, CA 95112 (408)294-9663. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 11:00am at Antioch Baptist Church, 268 E. Julian St., San Jose, CA 95112 (408)295-0066.
