BROCK, Ozella -- In San Jose, CA November 5, 2003. Loving wife of the late Joseph Clayton Brock. Loving mother of Bernardine Nelson, Ashah Alamin, Luther Brock, Sr., Richmond Milton Brock, Sr. all of San Jose, CA, Patrick Brock of East Palo Alto, CA and Monalisa Jones of Gilroy, CA. Godmother of Rahio Alamin, Marilyn Berry, Evelyn Berry, Octavia Dumas and Odell Broussard. Adoring grandmother of 36, great grandmother of 46 and great great grandmother of 3. Dear sister of Stinola of Los Angeles, CA & COle Richmond of Palo Alto, CA & former sister-in-law of Doll Hooks. A native of Tulsa, OK aged 95 years. Ozella was educated by the Ovlay Sisters of Provedent in Kansas City, KS (an order of Black Catholic Nuns) from 1919 to 1922. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City in 1925 with honors. While there she was president of the Spanish Club and a Cheerleader. She graduated from Cosmetology School with honors and was a senior instructor at the acclaimed Madame Walker Beauty College in Kansas City for several years. Ozella was a member of Alpha Chi Pi Omega Sorority. For many years she owned Ozella's Beauty Bar in San Francisco. She operated the beauty parlor at Moffett Field Naval Air Station for many years until her retirement in 1975. In 1955 after reading an article in an old Saturday Evening Post on an organization called Alcoholic Anonymous, she joined Al Anon and was a member for 48 years carrying the 12 step message to many family members and countless unknown others. She was a life master bridge player and in 1980 she founded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Bridge club and was president until 4 years before her death. She was a life member of the ABA. Ozella was a devoted care giver to her children, God children and grandchildren. Her family & her children were her greatest joy. After retiring she worked part time at a child day care center in Palo Alto. A truly great lady who will be greatly missed. Vigil services on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, 900 S. 2nd St., San Jose. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Five Wounds Catholic Church, San Jose.
