UntitledRichard E. GrayAge 79, passed away peacefully in San Jose, CA surrounded by his family on March 9, 2007. Retired Captain of the U.S. Army of 20yrs which included 3 tours of duty in the Korean War and 1 in Vietnam. He received numerous commendations including the Distinguished Flying Cross. Following his service to his country Richard also served 19yrs as a Corrections Officer for Soledad State Prison. He was also a past president of the American Fuchsia Society. An avid golfer and gardener he was known especially for his love of fuchsias. Richard is survived by his loving wife Mary Gray, brother William ( Carolyn) of Aurora, IL, children Paul, Christine & Jon-Christian Gray of Salinas, Catherine Gray of Paso Robles, Cindy (Van) Joerger of Meadow Vista, and stepchildren Michele (Scott) Parker of Salinas, Marty (Kim) Jansen of Concord and David (Michelle) Jansen of Richmond, VA. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Saturday March 17th at 1pm at Chapel of Flowers 900 S. 2nd St. San Jose, CA. Interment San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery Gustine, CA. The family wishes that donations be made to the American Fuchsia Society 4438 Richmond Ave. Fremont, CA 94536 c/o Color Plate Fund.
