Thomas Gerrit Shier

SHIER, Thomas Gerrit-- passed away August 2, 2002 in San Jose. Tom was born October 21, 1944 in Honolulu, HI and moved to San Jose in 1946. He attended San Jose schools and San Jose State University as an industrial design major.During the 1960s Tom became a conscientious objector and served two years of community service. Tom was an artist and enjoyed drawing, especially automobiles. He loved hiking and camping at the beach and in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Tom will be remembered for his loving heart, sense of humor and courageous spirit. He will be deeply missed.Tom is the son of the late Orville P. Shier and is survived by his mother, Mary Pos Shier and sisters, Anne Shier Elder and Carol Beilani Campbell.Funeral Services will be private. The family requests Memorial donations be sent to the Sierra Club. CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, 900 S. Second St. San Jose, serving the family.
