Walter R. "Bud" MinkelResident of San Jose 88, passed away April 16, 2012, surrounded by family.Born November 6, 1923, in San Francisco, California, son of the late Dorothy and Fred Minkel. On October 31, 1948 at the Mission in Carmel, California he married his "one and only", the late Dorothy Delphine Lattuada.Bud enlisted in the Armed Forces in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 2012, he was recognized for his 70th year of membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, most recently as a member of Local 332. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter in Santa Clara County and was instrumental in the construction of the New Almaden Community Center. Bud became a cattle rancher in the 1950's, belonging to both the Santa Clara County and California Cattlemen's Associations. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing and working his bird dogs in the field, yet the most meaningful part of his life was spending time with family. Bud was an incredibly strong man, a great listener and was always there when you needed him. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Anita Minkel of Hollister, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Donna Minkel of San Jose, CA ; grandchildren, Danielle & Mike Minkel of San Jose, CA; great grandson, Jaxson Subia of San Jose, CA; brother-in-law, Bob Nave of San Rafael, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren & step great-great grandchildren.Viewing will be held Saturday 4/21/12 from 3pm to 9pm (blessing at 6pm) at Chapel of Flowers, 900 S. 2nd Street in San Jose. A second viewing will be held Sunday 4/22/12 from 9am to 10:30am at Chapel of Flowers, immediately followed by a gravesite service at Oak Hill Cemetery at 11am, 300 Curtner Avenue in San Jose.
