Wanda Kaye Dye-Hodge

'I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help.'

(Psalm 121: 1-2)

Wanda Kaye Dye-Hodge was the loving daughter of the late Oscar and Lydia Dye.  She was born on February 12, 1943, in Terrell, Texas.  There were two other daughters from this union:  Anita Dye Collins and the deceased Charles Gwendolyn Dye-Sterns.

Wanda grew up in Texas and later moved with her family to San Jose, California at the age of 14.  She completed her high school education and attended college.  Wanda worked for many years in the electronics industry in Silicon Valley – most of them at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) until retirement.

In 1964 Wanda Kaye met and married Larry Wayne Miles.  God blessed this union with two sons:  Shannon Wayne Miles and Roderick Keithon Miles.  She served as a loving and supportive foster parent to two sons:  Rodney Kidd and Timothy Bright.

Sister Wanda Kaye Dye-Hodge accepted Christ into her life at a young age and was baptized at Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ in San Jose, California under the auspices of the late Bishop Milton Mathis.  She served as a dedicated member of Sunday School and the YPWW and both junior and young adult choirs.  Wanda was also a member of the Prayer Garden Sewing Circle. Later, she became a member of a singing group called the Prayerettes under the leadership of the late Supt. Sherman Harris. The group began to travel with the late Bishop Milton Mathis supporting evangelistic ministry.  Sister Hodge was a supportive parent to Prayer Garden Singspiration Choir.  She traveled as a chaperone with the choir and helped with the sewing of the choir uniforms.

Later in 1986, Wanda met and married her devoted husband, Deacon Oliver Hodge.  Oliver lovingly accepted the responsibilities of a blended family.  After the demise of Bishop Mathis, the Hodges served under the leadership of Pastor Superintendent Paul D. Bates.  God blessed this union for 17 years until Oliver transitioned from this earth into God’s arms.  He will be remembered for his generosity and smile.

Wanda Kaye leaves two cherish sons: Shannon Wayne Miles of San Jose, CA and Roderick “Keith” Miles, one grandson: Andre Miles (Seattle, Washington; (mother of grandson, Angie Griffin)); Brothers:  Ebrem Dye (Sarah), Kenneth Dye; Sisters: Anita Dye-Collins, Vanessa (Mike) Davis, Martha (Roderick) Clark, and Debra (Germaine) Byrd.

She was a special aunty to a host of nieces, and nephews.  She was loved by other relatives and special friends.  Her son, Shannon Miles, Salivienia Brown and Aileen Trent Jackson were her caregivers to the end.
